Roblox’s Top Games in September 2026: Steal an Egg Pulls Away as Ride a Pet Arrives

August brought a change at the top of Roblox’s rankings. September widened the gap. After finishing second behind Murder Mystery 2 in August, Steal an Egg surged to an average of 1.4 million concurrent players, more than three times the audience of its nearest challenger, Brookhaven.
The contrast with the rest of the field was striking. Every other returning experience in September’s qualifying top ten recorded a lower average concurrent player count than in August. Murder Mystery 2 lost much of its summer surge, while Brookhaven reclaimed second place despite a smaller audience of its own. Meanwhile, Ride a Pet entered the rankings, giving players another spin on egg hatching and pet collecting.
Together, those shifts raise a question beyond who finished first: did Steal an Egg’s growing dominance capture time that players previously spent elsewhere? The numbers are consistent with that explanation, though they cannot confirm that one game’s gains came at another’s expense.

Methodology: The rankings are based on the monthly average of daily concurrent-player observations collected by Rollimons during September. To qualify, a game must have at least 15 complete days of player data. This prevents late-month releases from ranking primarily on the strength of an initial launch spike and gives player activity more time to normalize.
Steal an Egg turns a breakout into a commanding lead

Steal an Egg was already a major story in August. September made it the clear leader among Roblox’s top games. Its average player count grew from approximately 543K to 1.45 million, a 167% increase. Its September average was roughly 3.6 times Brookhaven’s 406K.
As we explored last month, the game combines the appeal of stealing and collecting with egg hatching and pet progression. Throughout September, weekly updates kept giving players fresh reasons to return. The Rift update on September 5 added a recurring boss fight and rewards, followed by Angels & Demons on September 12, which introduced a new biome and pets. September 19 brought enemy drones that players could battle for rewards. A new boss fight and a laboratory where players could exchange eggs for pets followed on September 26.

Rather than relying on its original collection loop alone, Steal an Egg kept expanding what players could do and what they could earn. New pets and recurring activities gave returning players fresh goals, while the weekly release schedule created regular moments to check back in. The pattern lines up with the chart’s Saturday surges, suggesting that updates helped maintain attention throughout the month.
Steal an Egg’s audience also remained substantial between update days. Daily players remained near or above one million throughout September. However, engagement appeared to be gradually pulling back: the final Saturday of September drew a lower player count than the previous two, and the month ended at approximately 969K. The game remained far ahead of its rivals, but its late-month trajectory suggested its momentum was beginning to cool.
Ride a Pet brings another collection loop into the top ten

Ride a Pet entered at No. 9, averaging approximately 118K concurrent players. Rolimon’s lists its creation date as April 14, 2026, while the engagement data used here begins on September 16. That gives its 15 days of recorded activity for the month, meeting this article’s minimum requirement.
The basic loop is simple: find an egg, race back to your base before the timer runs out, and hatch it into a pet. Faster pets become better mounts, helping players reach rarer eggs and bring them home in time.
Despite that straightforward premise, there are several layers underneath it. Radars help players locate eggs, food provides useful effects, and rebirth offers longer-term progression. Players must weigh which pets to improve and how to make each egg run more productive. Those systems give the game more depth than first meets the eye and help keep the collection loop engaging.
Alongside Steal an Egg, Ride a Pet’s arrival puts egg hatching and pet collecting firmly in the spotlight. For now, eggs and pets look like a winning combination for Roblox breakouts. Whether Ride a Pet can turn that appeal into lasting engagement will become clearer in October.

Murder Mystery 2’s summer surge retreats
After leading August’s rankings, Murder Mystery 2 slipped to fourth in September. Its average player count fell from approximately 633K to 249K, a 61% decline. That also put it below July’s 341K average, although it remained above June’s 198K.
The end of its summer event helps explain the timing. Murder Mystery 2’s Summer 2026 event ran from July 23 to August 23, bringing a seasonal lobby, map, mystery box, and collectible rewards. September was therefore its first full month after the event ended.
With those seasonal incentives gone, the pullback suggests August’s surge was difficult to sustain. As we discussed in last month’s article, questions around bot farming and potentially inflated activity also complicate the picture. The monthly averages alone cannot separate those effects from a broader decline in player engagement.
There is still a potential catalyst ahead. When announcing the summer update, creator Nikilis said the team had an “even bigger update planned.” His statement did not specify a release date or its contents, but a substantial new release could give players another reason to return. The question is whether that next update can rebuild engagement and sustain it beyond another temporary spike.

Did Steal an Egg capture attention from other top games?
Brookhaven’s return to second place came with a 23% decline in average players. Adopt Me! fell 30%, 99 Nights in the Forest dropped 35%, and Steal a Brainrot declined 45%. Rivals and Jujutsu Shenanigans recorded smaller decreases of roughly 7% and 6%, respectively. Ranking movement and audience growth were clearly different stories.
Steal an Egg’s rise may have come partly at the expense of other major experiences. Its growth coincided with declines across every other returning game in the qualifying top ten, suggesting it may have captured a greater share of players’ attention. That possibility is especially relevant when a breakout offers familiar collection and progression systems that overlap with other games’ appeal.
However, Steal an Egg gaining players does not necessarily mean other games lost those same players. Its growth could also come from new players joining Roblox, former players returning, or existing players spending more time in the game. Meanwhile, school restarting and summer events ending may have contributed to declines elsewhere. The figures show these trends happening together, but cannot confirm that players switched from other games to Steal an Egg.
Even with those caveats, the contrast is striking: Steal an Egg’s average player count grew 167% as every other returning game in September’s top ten declined. That pattern strengthens the hypothesis that its rise drew some attention away from established hits, even if seasonal changes and other factors also played a role.

What September sets up for October
Last month’s rankings showed how seasonal events and new launches could reorder the top ten. September extended that story: Steal an Egg converted its breakout into a commanding monthly lead, Ride a Pet joined the field, and Murder Mystery 2 retreated from its summer high.
October will test whether Steal an Egg’s weekly updates can counter its emerging pullback and whether Ride a Pet can build on its first appearance in the rankings. For established leaders such as Murder Mystery 2, fresh content offers a chance to regain attention. Across the field, the challenge is the same: giving players reasons to keep coming back.
